Why is the Under 16 tour different from every other one?
Most tours are a good weekend. This one is a full stop. Under 16 is where the mini and junior journey ends: from there the players move up into youth rugby, and a proportion of every squad will not go with them. The coaches know it, the parents know it, and by the time the tour comes round the players have worked it out too.
Which changes what the trip is for. It is not a first taste of touring — this group has been doing this since they were seven, with the same coaches, the same parents on the touchline and mostly the same names on the back of the shirts. It is the send-off. The last time this squad travels as this squad.
So we build it to be remembered rather than just booked: fixtures worth playing, a destination worth the journey, and enough time off the pitch that the trip belongs to them and not to the fixture list.
WHERE WE DRAW THE LINE
This is a junior tour, not a youth tour
Under 16 sits at the top of the junior section, and that is exactly how we run it: fixtures against club sides of the same age and standard, coaches and parents travelling with the group, and evenings built around the squad.
Youth touring — Under 17 to Under 19 — is a different trip with a different tone, and this is not it. If that is what you are after, say so, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right operator for it.

Two ways to do the last one
There are two honest routes to an Under 16 tour, and clubs split fairly evenly between them. Neither is the upgrade — they answer different questions. Read both before you decide.
A bespoke tour
A bespoke tour is a trip arranged around your Under 16s rather than a tournament draw. We fix the fixtures with local clubs abroad at the standard you tell us the squad is playing at, book the accommodation, move you between hotel and pitches, and put a tour manager with the group. Your dates, your length, your budget — Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium or further afield.

An overseas festival
Some squads want a tournament for the last one — more sides, more games, silverware at the end and clubs from across Europe in the same place. Three European festivals sit on our 2027 calendar, hosted by established continental clubs. They set their own formats and age groups; we organise the tour around them, so travel, transfers, accommodation and entry arrive as one trip.

Each festival publishes its own age groups, and they move year to year. We will not tell you an Under 16 category is running until the organiser has confirmed it — tell us your age group and we will check it before you commit to anything.

The last hoorah for the parents, too
Nobody puts this in a brochure, so we will. Plenty of these tours are enjoyed as much by the parents as by the players — sometimes more. A decade of Sunday mornings in the cold, of lifts to away fixtures, of standing on the same touchline with the same people, ends at the same time the rugby does.
So the parents travel, and the trip is built to let them. Families book their own places and pick their own rooms on the same share link as everyone else, and pay Revel directly rather than through a club float. Nobody has to run a rooming spreadsheet on their last tour.
It is their send-off as well as the squad's, and it is worth planning it that way from the start.

Where Under 16 squads tour
Four destinations we know well enough to build a last tour around. Each works as a bespoke trip; three of them also host the festivals above.
SPAIN
The destination we have run most. Mediterranean rugby, a coast to spend the afternoons on and hotel breakfasts nobody has to cook — Barcelona and the Costa Blanca are the routes we know best.
PORTUGAL
The Lisbon coast, with the Atlantic just down the road. Bespoke fixtures against Portuguese clubs, or the Portugal Rugby Youth Festival if the squad wants the tournament instead.
NETHERLANDS
Dutch club rugby with real depth. The Hilversum International draws sides from all over Europe to one of the country's great clubs — and Holland works just as well as a bespoke destination.
BELGIUM
An easy hop from the UK and a proper continental weekend. Ghent's Easter tournament takes Under 16 and Under 17 squads, is hosted by one of Belgium's biggest clubs, and we build bespoke tours here too. Always confirm your age group with the organiser before you commit.

The UK option, if travel abroad isn't on the cards
Not every club can get an Under 16 squad abroad for the last one — cost, passports, a parent committee that's already stretched. That isn't a reason to skip the send-off. It's a reason to have it closer to home.
Revel Rugby Devon runs a full Under 16 category, for both boys and girls, so it plays exactly like the overseas festivals above: fixtures, finals, medals on the stage, the whole club there for the weekend. Revel Rugby North Wales also runs boys' Under 16. Revel Rugby Somerset and Revel Rugby Cheshire run Girls Under 16, so they're the right send-off for a girls squad, not a boys one.
A UK weekend costs a fraction of a flight and the whole club can travel down in a minibus — and it is still, genuinely, the last time this squad plays together.

What is an Under 16 rugby tour?
It is the last tour of a club's junior journey — a trip for the Under 16 squad, which is the top of the mini and junior section.
